Reach for the Stars!

étoile de mer polaire dans l'aquarium du Fjord

Musée du Fjord’s stars do not shine high up in the sky or at the top of a Christmas tree! Instead, they swim… in our giant aquarium. Their scintillating colours shine just as brightly though. Indeed, the common starfish varies from light yellow to brown, through orange, red, mauve, purple, and violet. For its part, the polar starfish generally uniform in colour; it can be grey, green, beige, red, or brown, but is sometimes mottled. But what really sets these two species apart is the number of arms they have: the common starfish usually has five, while the polar starfish has six.
